Workshop
Open Source Powered Virtualization

A workshop that will to empower you to implement virtualization using open source technologies!

Attendees will be empowered, by the end of this workshop. to initiate virtualization of their servers and storage. Then, ensure high availability using clustering and fail-over techniques. Plus, use GUI tools to monitor and administer the entire setup.

Date: 15th February 2008
Venue: Pragati Maidaan
Duration: 4 hours
Time: 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm (includes 30 min for lunch time)
Fee structure:          FREE: First twenty
                             Rs 1000: Next twenty i.e. 21-40
                             Rs 2000: Next 10 i.e. 41-50
                             Rs 3000: Next 10 i.e. 51-60

Topics:

#1) Server Virtualization: How to setup a single server such that it can host multiple guest operating systems with multiple versions, multiple performance and security settings, all running on the same server. Demonstrate, how 'Guest Systems' can be created in a few seconds, provisioned, suspended, resumed, deleted, and even moved to other physical servers while fully active.

#2) Storage virtualization: Based on Cluster File System technology, demonstrate how storage virtualization allows multiple guests, running on the same or different servers, to access and share logical storage volumes and file systems. This in turn enables a consistent storage environment for every guest system, regardless of where it is running.

3) Adding high-availability elements: How to use technologies such as clustering and fail-over to create a high-availability environment, one that does not go down, even if a server or two go down. How applications can be moved between guest operating systems on the same or different physical system, and entire guest operating systems environments can be moved between physical systems.

#4) GUI-based management: How to use GUI-based tools that can help you to manage all aspects of virtualized system and storage.
