Developers and OSS Projects

If you are an interested in starting an open source project, Microsoft provides a number of programs and initiatives to help you achieve your goals.

        1. Get the Tools: This includes lightweight, freely downloadable programming environments, such as Microsoft Visual Studio Express and Microsoft SQL Server Express.
        2. Share Your Code: If you already have a project started, Microsoft offers open source project hosting on CodePlex.
        3. Join the Community: You can also get insights and opinions from open source experts at Microsoft on Port 25.
    
OSS-Based Businesses  
Microsoft offers a number of partner benefits to help open source-based businesses develop and sell more effectively. To get started, sign-up as a registered member of the Microsoft Partner Program to receive free sales, marketing, and technical resources.
